1. Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains how Tabempa Engineering Limited ("Tabempa Engineering," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on NeuraLaunch, available at startupvalidator.app and through the NeuraLaunch mobile applications (collectively, the "Platform").
This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
2. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, phone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites function correctly, improve performance, and provide information to the website operator. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, and pixel tags.
3. Cookies We Use
We use a limited number of cookies, organised into two categories. We do not use advertising cookies, social media tracking cookies, or any cookies that share your data with advertising networks.
3.1 Essential Cookies
These cookies are strictly necessary for the Platform to function. They cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|
| Authentication session | Maintains your signed-in state across page loads. Set by Auth.js after you sign in with Google or GitHub. Without this cookie, you would need to sign in on every page. | Session (expires when browser closes) or up to 30 days if "remember me" is enabled | NeuraLaunch (first-party) |
| CSRF protection token | Prevents cross-site request forgery attacks on form submissions and API calls. This is a security measure that protects your account. | Session | NeuraLaunch (first-party) |
| Cookie consent preference | Remembers your cookie preference choice so you are not asked repeatedly. | 12 months | NeuraLaunch (first-party) |
3.2 Analytics
The Platform does not use third-party analytics cookies. All analytics are handled through a self-built, first-party system that does not set cookies on your device.
Validation landing page analytics: When visitors interact with a validation landing page (created by a founder to test market demand), anonymous events are collected server-side. Visitor identity is derived from a salted, one-way cryptographic hash of the request IP address and user agent — no cookies are set, no persistent identifiers are stored, and visitors cannot be tracked across sessions or identified personally. Events include page views, scroll depth, feature interest clicks, email signups, and survey responses.
General Platform usage: The Platform does not track general usage patterns (pages visited, features used, session duration) through cookies or any third-party analytics service. Usage data is derived from server-side API request logs and database records generated through normal Platform operation.
Because the Platform uses no analytics cookies, there are no optional cookies to accept or decline. The cookie consent banner applies only to essential cookies, which are always required.
4. Cookies We Do Not Use
For clarity, the Platform does not use:
- Advertising or marketing cookies — we do not display advertisements and do not use cookies to track you for advertising purposes
- Social media tracking cookies — we do not embed social media tracking pixels or share cookie data with social media platforms
- Cross-site tracking cookies — we do not track your activity across other websites
- Third-party behavioural targeting cookies — we do not participate in any behavioural advertising networks
5. Cookies Set by Paddle (Payment Processor)
When you interact with the Paddle checkout (to subscribe, manage your subscription, or update payment details), Paddle may set its own cookies on your device. These cookies are governed by Paddle's own cookie policy, available at paddle.com/privacy. Tabempa Engineering does not control Paddle's cookies.
Paddle's cookies are typically used for fraud prevention, checkout session management, and payment security. They are only set when you actively interact with the Paddle checkout or customer portal.
6. Local Storage and Session Storage
In addition to cookies, the Platform uses browser local storage and session storage for the following purposes:
| Storage | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Authentication tokens | Stores your authentication session securely on the client side for API requests. | Session or until sign-out |
| Theme preference | Remembers your light/dark mode preference. | Persistent until cleared |
| Onboarding completion (mobile) | Records that you have completed the onboarding screens so they are not shown again. | Persistent until app is uninstalled |
Local storage and session storage are first-party only and are not shared with any third party.
7. Managing Your Cookie Preferences
7.1 Essential Cookies Only
Because the Platform uses no analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or any other optional cookies, there is no cookie preference choice to make. The only cookies set by the Platform are essential cookies required for authentication and security. These cannot be disabled without preventing the Platform from functioning.
7.2 Browser-Level Controls
Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically:
- View the cookies stored on your device
- Delete individual cookies or all cookies
- Block cookies from specific websites or from all websites
- Set your browser to notify you when a cookie is being set
Note that blocking essential cookies will prevent you from signing in and using the Platform. For instructions on managing cookies in your browser, consult your browser's help documentation.
7.3 Mobile Application
The NeuraLaunch mobile application does not use browser cookies. It uses secure device storage (via Expo SecureStore) for authentication tokens and standard device storage for preferences. Push notification permissions are managed through your device's operating system settings.
8. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. If we make material changes — such as introducing a new category of cookies — we will notify you through the Platform and reset the cookie consent banner so you can make an informed choice about the new cookies.
